about
This track is a homage to Rashômon (the South Gate of ancient Kyoto) in either the short story of Akutagawa or the movie of Kurosawa by the same name. Both are great but dark pieces of art about a world in despair.
They tell us about the subjectivity of truth and losing humanity in the face of disastrous conditions.
Rashômon was once the grand entry to the main road of old Kyoto (Heiankyo) but felt into disrepair by the 12th century and had become a place of demons, a disposal for abandoned corpses and a hideout for thieves. This sounds like a good location for a sinister illbient dub track, right?
